Doane Poll
What best describes your take on willingness of retirement age farmers to sell land TODAY?
They’re as bullish as ever and will probably ask (and get) even higher rents for 2009.

I’m sensing more and more of them wondering if this is a “bubble” they ought to be selling for price reasons alone.

Fear of higher capital gains taxes is growing as a “motivator” for those with land to sell to act soon, while prices are so high.

Last Week's Poll Results
What best describes your view on today's shocking report from USDA that farmers not only got all the corn acres planted that they "intended" to in March, but 1.3 million acres more than they intended, while still managing to plant all but about 250,000 acres of Mar. 1 soybean intentions?
I don't believe the planted acreage numbers. I'm betting future reports will show smaller acreage planted and more planted acres abandoned rather than re-planted.
65.8%
Given all the weather delays in planting, I am very surprised farmers managed to plant over a million acres more to corn and soybeans combined than they indicated in March.
19.0%
Not surprised at all because prices went so much higher after the intentions survey was taken in March.
15.2%
